25/30 H.P. TRIALS CAR - GWN-2.

Replying to Cxl/KW28.9.37., we too are disappointed at the results given by the Dunlop tyre when it is partly worn.

In fairness to Messrs. Dunlop we believe that the recent hot weather has accelerated the wear of tyres enormously, so that in the ordinary way they would not become noisy at 4,000 miles. However, there is no doubt that the tyres are not nearly good enough.

The only tyre we have so far tested which meets our requirements as regards silence is the General Dual-10 tyre, the Agents for which are R.M. Papelian Limited, Edgware Road, Cricklewood, N.W.2. We are not sure whether they make a size suitable for the 25/30, but they do for the P.III. We are running a set 15,000 miles on 6.B.IV.

For policy reasons it may be impossible for you to run an American tyre on a Rolls-Royce car for demonstration purposes, but, apart from this, we have no further information as to how to help you.

With reference to the exhaust system on this car, we should like our expert on silencers to have an opportunity of trying it under the conditions complained of. Presumably this could be arranged during the Motor Show if the test could be carried out before 9.30. in the morning.
