BATTERY IGNITION FOR PEREGRINE, JAPAN & BENSPORT. Owing to the fact that for a short time we shall be using our existing standard ignition coil running in conjunction with the double breaker distributor on the above chassis, it will be necessary to insert extra external resistance in the coil primary circuit. Experiments we have carried out on the bench shew that the ballast resistance needs to be increased by approx. 30% in order to bring the running current and secondary voltage figures, to approximately the figures obtained with the existing standard scheme, using the single breaker distributor. We have accordingly fitted up 3.PER.II, the next 10,000 mile chassis, with a new ballast resistance of 46" length giving a cold resistance of approx. 2.1 ohms as against 1.6 ohms standard.
