- 2 - has been considerably decreased. Expl. work by Whn. and Lid.{A. J. Lidsey} is still being carried out to obtain conditions suitable for all purposes. Very good results have been obtained with the 25 HP. springing. This type of springing has been fitted to 18.G.IV., 16.G.IV., and on the London's Trials car. The springs are being tested on the 'bump rig' with a view of reliability before passing into production. Item (4). Fabric Coupling. We have not had a recurrent complaint with the improved fabric coupling. Item (5). Steering. There is nothing further to report until the new shock dampers have been adopted which we hope will overcome these complaints. Item (6). Clutches. With the fitting of the new fabric and extra rivets there should be very few complaints. Depots have been instructed re. existing cars. Item (7). Exhaust Troubles. The exhaust troubles are confined chiefly to the early Phantom I. and early 20 HP. The 20 HP. troubles have been dealt with and depots are getting satisfactory results. The Phantom I. is receiving every attention. We have received assistance from W.W. and tests will be carried out as soon as possible with the new designs. The exhaust blows reported on Phantom II has been chiefly from the front drain hole in the silencer and sliding joints. Both the Phantom II and 25 HP manifolds are being dealt with by W.W. Item (8). Overheating. Boiling. We have not at the present any further modification other than what has been reported. There should be less complaints from future cars. Extensive research work is to be carried out when the apparatus is available for increasing the efficiency of the radiator. Item (9). Slipper Drives. The improved low inertia spring drive has definitely given less trouble on the Phantom II than previous. The 25 HP slipper wheel is not at the moment giving serious trouble. Item (10). Ignition Coils. We have not received any recurrent complaints after | ||
