Bentley Brakes - Rippon Brothers' Trials Car.

Replying to Wor.{Arthur Wormald - General Works Manager}4/R.13.12.34.

We fitted an experimental set of improved water excluders to the front drums of this car and also Ferodo Bonded Asbestos.

We consider that we definitely reduced the tendency for wet brake jaggers to occur. We are keeping in touch with Messrs. Rippon Brothers so that we can obtain their opinion.

When we removed the front axle for fitting water excluders we found that the axle control bushes were very badly worn due to lack of lubrication. Further examination revealed that oil could not reach the parts in question because grooves, shown on the drawing, had not been machined. We consider that this is very serious, as sufficient slack in the axle control will bring on the very alarming high speed jagger which frightened Sg.{Arthur F. Sidgreaves - MD} so much on Lp{Mr Lappin}'s car. We replaced the defective parts.

We have previously mentioned the rear spring bracket being loose in Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}18/KW.20.12.34.

Since Dodd's visit to K, they have found that B-136-AH, Miesegaes' car, also has no oil annulus in the axle control, [REDACTED], and on B-128-AH the drilling of the oil hole is defective. These are in addition to the cars reported on by F.{Mr Friese} Dodd.
