TO EFC. FROM AJS. Copy to E re. DYNAMO ON 4.G.11. Replying to your EFC3/T4225., the following are the particulars you require:- The mileage of the car as registered to date is 818.8 miles. The condition of the brushes is, referring to sketch below which is a diagrammatic view looking on the brush end of dynamo - (1) Appears to be highly polished and in particularly good condition. (2) Appears very good but not quite so highly polished as (1). (3) Is similar to (1). As perhaps indicating the wear of the carbons we note that (1) is approximately .050 below the top of the brush holder, (2) approximately .125, and (3) approximately .175. DUST There is a fair amount of carbon and copper around the brush holders, but the surface of the commutator was in good condition, and no undue sparking at the brushes was observed when running.
