Brake Judders on Bentley.

B-191-AE. Mr. Geoffrey Duveen.
B.122-CR.{Mr Cra???ster / Mr Chichester} Mrs.Geoffrey Duveen.
B-136-AH. MR. W.L.P. Miesagaes.

The above cars all had the same complaint, i.e. juddering of front brakes after washers. The chauffeurs' complaints were -

Brake judders after washing.
Not drying out after reasonable time.
Pulling to either side during the process.

The three cars were taken to Kingsbury and the following work carried out -

Pivot lean checked, front road springs examined, axle controls examined and adjustment checked, front drums removed and brakes examined, lead given on heel and toe of wrapping shoe and heel of trailing shoe, brake shoes and drums washed in petrol and drums replaced.

In each case the adjustments were standard and the bedding of the liners good.

The brake drums were then washed with water (using pressure plant) and the cars tried on the road.

On B-191-AE and B-136-AH the brakes still juddered as previously, but dried out and were alright after approx. 1 1/2 miles running using the brakes reasonably hard on several occasions.

On B-122-CR{Mr Cra???ster / Mr Chichester} after using the brakes once or twice the car pulled to the off side. The drums were again removed, and it was found that while the offside was quite dry there was still water on the other brake liners. This was dried out and the brakes behaved in a normal manner.
