Y560 To Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/FD.{Frank Dodd - Bodies} Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}1/KW.25.11.35. Chassis GLG-5. Sg{Arthur F. Sidgreaves - MD}'s Car. The following undesirable features were noticed on Sg{Arthur F. Sidgreaves - MD}'s car :- (1) The fan is very noisy particularly when the radiator shutters are beginning to open. We ought to change this for a Peregrine fan if it is possible. (2) The water temperature is too low. The thermostat should be altered or the shutter adjustment altered. The water never gets above 75ºC. (3) The carburation is on the weak side. In view of the cold weather likely to be experienced in the immediate future we should be sure that good carburation comes before consumption. (4) The brakes do not seem particularly effective, the only thing we have time for is to roast the servo with the back wheels jacked up. (5) The clutch is not particularly smooth in engagement, and gives one the impression that this is due to the engine mounting. We should make sure that there is no slack in the links. (6) The starter motor clutch appears to slip. I do not know whether we can do anything in the time available. (7) The petrol pumps are very noisy when the car is cold. These should be changed. We expect Kennett to call for the car this afternoon. Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer} | ||
