To C.G. from R.{Sir Henry Royce} Copy to E.W. [strikethrough] E.H. ORIGINAL R4/G2/6/19 X.819. RE TEMPERATURE OF FLOOR BOARDS. With reference to the temperature of the floor boards, you will remember that some very long time ago we were much worried with the question of keeping the floor boards cool. From experience I have had, and recent impressions, I do not believe anything serious can be done as regards the radiator and temperature of the air under the bonnet, but that we shall have to rely on the thorough ventilation of the scuttle dash. This would suggest the desirability, at a convenient time, of adopting a standard pattern of scuttle dash, which is attached to the car at the Works, having the necessary ventilators carefully standardised and fitted by ourselves.
