REPORT ON INSTRUCTION BOOK dated May 1923.

There are quite a number of points mentioned in the small Instruction Book which are not referred to at all in the Book of General and Technical Information, details of which can be given if it is thought necessary.

There are a few points also mentioned in the Book of General and Technical Information which are not referred to in the small Instruction Book, details of which can be given.

In the small Instruction Book dealing with lubrication there are several points which we think it would be of benefit to alter:

Page 16, paragraph 2, states - "Add two syringesful of gear oil to the Gearbox". We think this should be omitted, and the oil level should be checked before any addition is made, and only such oil added as is required to bring it to the correct level.

It seems to us to be an unnecessarily long job to carry out this operation because there is no convenient inspection plug, and in order to carry out this operation it is necessary to remove 14 nuts and washers before it is possible to find out correctly the level of the oil in the box.

The Instruction Book states that the starting handle should be oiled every 500 miles, and we think that this operation need only be carried out at least every 2,000 miles.

The Instruction Book also states - "Oil the universal joint behind the Gearbox every 2,000 miles". This we recommend should be done every 500 miles. It should be noted that on the 10,000 miles trial run this joint was oiled every 500 miles.

No reference is made in the Instruction Book to oiling the speedometer pulley or flex.

We would suggest that the whole of the oiling and operations necessary at certain mileages should be kept together. In our Instruction Book we have apparently isolated the electrical part from the mechanical part, and we think it would be more useful if they were all kept together instead of having to find them in different parts of the Book.

Attention to oiling of the electrical parts we would recommend would be better placed under a mileage column, in preference to referring to a certain length of time.

On page 44 of the small Instruction Book reference is made to weekly and monthly inspections. We would recommend
