3 Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}14/IL. Captain Slaytor, Naval Ordnance Department, Admiralty, Spa Hotel, BATH. Dear Slaytor, Many thanks for your letter of the 9th. September. I note what you say about the fully automatic gun. The Navy are really in rather a fortunate position since they have not been, nor will be, asked to pay for any development work on the 40 mm. gun, for the time being. I believe that you will like our fully automatic gun on a power driven mounting, particularly if we can give you a very compact independent source of power supply. However, the job is not finished yet but I will look forward to selling it to you when the outfit is a "fait accompli". It will give us tremendous satisfaction to have such a demonstration model on our Range for use during Blitzkriege. I am glad that your native village is in such good hands, though last time I was there I must say, that military objectives appeared to be few and far between. Yours sincerely, | ||
