We also confirm having cabled to you today as follows:-

"HIVES LE CANADELHenry Royce's French residence YOUR REPORTS TWENTY FOURTH RECEIVED CONSIDER IT VITAL IMPORTANCE YOU REMAIN TO OBTAIN R'S DECISIONS ON MATTERS WE REPORT" PLATFORD.

This cable arises out of a discussion I had with Wor.{Arthur Wormald - General Works Manager} in which he agreed that much more satisfactory progress could be made on the Goshawk job by you remaining to be able to get R's decisions either for standardising or experimenting in connection with troubles we are still experiencing with the Goshawk Car.

We are today sending through a report with regard to the water circulation of the Goshawk which we feel requires urgent attention and on which we should be glad to have information as we feel this is a point which will have to be corrected before we can deliver cars.

As regards the S.U. Carburetter. We do not seem to have been able to obtain any achievements as good as that which you obtained on the first S.U. carburetter tested, and we do not feel at present that we can entirely neglect our own carburetter in view of this experience. TMW. is, therefore, pushing ahead with experimental work on our own carburetter especially in view of your reports to the effect that the carburation on your car has been very good which, so far, is also so confirmed on 5-Goshawk-11 but about which we have not yet heard anything further from Hy.{Tom Haldenby - Plant Engineer} At the same time, we are unduly posted from the Sales Dept. about this 45% imporvement but although we have not disollutioned them on this matter, I have made it clear to CJ. that we cannot supply them with a car fitted with the S.U. carburetter unless we are satisfied that it gives a better performance than the present carburetter and is also approved by R, to which action, CJ. agrees. We certainly think that at this stage it would be as well for you to again confirm that the S.U. carburetter you have does give an improvement on 4-Goshawk-11 and if so, how much and in what way, as there is some doubt whether the improvement you originally obtained was due to the carburetter as we do not seem to be able to reproduce this, although we should have had their man continually on the job.

We should be glad to hear from you to what extent the speedometer fitted, is incorrect and what is the actual number on the speedometer. The speedometers as obtained and fixed to 5-Goshawk-11 and 6-Goshawk-11 are also reading incorrect and we do not appear to have been supplied or obtained the correct information in regard to the particulars of drive etc. required for these speedometers which I am now taking up with SY.

What type K.L.G. plugs are now being used on 4-Goshawk-1 At the works we find KL. type are the most suitable.

Water circulation. You report is giving no trouble
