To Hd.{Mr Hayward/Mr Huddy} FOR DEPOT SHEET. 1360 Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/Swdl.{Len H. Swindell}18/JH.11.6.37. Failure of rocker shafts. In view of the several failures we have recently had at the section of the pedestal stud holes of the rocker shafts on Bentley and Phantom III we can only reproduce the same failure by leaving off one of the pedestal nuts so that the section of the shaft takes the rocker loading without support. We conclude therefore that this failure is mainly due to the nuts not being properly tightened down. Will you please issue a Depot sheet instructing depots to go over these nuts as cars come in for various complaints. Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/L.H.Swindall. | ||
