25 HP. SLIPPING CLUTCHES.

Replying to C.12/C.18.1.33.

We are always ready to accept that the design is faulty, but in the case of the 25 HP. slipping clutch complaints we have not yet a scrap of evidence to confirm this. The design of the clutch, the coefficient of friction allowed on the material is the same as we have used on our other cars and is also the same as used by other makers and recommended by the clutch fabric people.

We certainly cannot recommend any alteration in the design until we have had an opportunity of investigating one of these complaints. We have asked Br.{T. E. Bellringer - Repair Manager} to let us know by telephone when he has a case and we will have a man down there in two or three hours to investigate it. If it means that a customer is held up for his car then it would pay us to loan him a car in order to get this job settled.

So far, whenever we have asked to see a sample of a car with slipping clutch noone has ever been able to produce one.
