Re: Radiators - B.III. & B.50. The first B.III. radiator of imperceptible slope but with a V. {VIENNA} shape base we did not feel looked as impressive as the Standard Bentley. We realised that the V. {VIENNA} shape base was the cause. To enable the base to be almost straight necessitated increasing the lean of the face from 1.000" to 2.750". This was done and is fitted to 2.B.5. Unfortunately the increased slope is apparent and whilst the straight ahead view is good, the three quarter and full side views have lost the Bentley appearance on account of the slope. We have found that due to the new frame, it is possible to revert to the original facial slope of the first B.III. and to delete almost the V. {VIENNA} base, so that we can use a separate and flat front apron. The scheme of the base of the shell and shutter fixings is PD.244 herewith. Schemes for suitable shells for B.III. and B.50 are in hand, and will be required for -.B.5. and 2.B.50.
