To F.H. from Hes. C. to C.L. C. to E.E. C. to HY.{Tom Haldenby - Plant Engineer} ORIGINAL Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}4/LG1 8.8.24 S S TYRES LOCK PLATES FOR RETAINING FLANGE ↓527 DEMOUNTABLE RIMS. The tests with the 40/50 HP. cars in France with 4-wheel brakes fitted, have shown that it is very necessary that some form of locking device should be fixed to the demountable rims. In 50% of the cases where tyres are punctured or burst at high speed, the demountable rims leave the wheel altogether - and in several instances the demountable rim has never been found. We have had similar complaints of customers having similar failures. It is the practice on racing cars using these rims to have a locking device. Early on we ran some of our own cars with a simple link to prevent the demountable flange opening out and leaving the wheel. The matter has been taken up with Messrs. Dunlop and they have agreed to fit a locking plate held on by means of two studs. Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} | ||
