Dear Sirs,

With reference to your letter of the 28th ult. we see no reason why the lead insert design should not be used. Our only doubt is that owing to the rigid arrange of the lugs, a detrimental effect may be experienced by positive plate growth. We have however examined some of our existing batteries of this type, and at the moment can find no fault. We should much appreciate a sectionised part of a lid{A. J. Lidsey}, showing this lead insert, for our own experimental records. If this can be arranged will you please mark same for the attention of the undersigned.

Yours faithfully,

FOR ROLLS-ROYCE LTD.
