We have received yourletter of the 27th.inst. and your telegram dated the 27th.inst.

We consider the reports very good.

We suggest that you should prevent as much as possible Mr. Schmidt or customers there anticipating that you are going to cure boiling troubles. You should make it clear that the reason for sending you out there is to examine the conditions under which the cars have to work and to test other cars under similar con-ditions, and then, what steps are taken to improve the R-R cars will be decided by the Engineers in England.

I should not let them worry you with all the troubles on their cars. You will, of course, have to listen smypathetically and tell them you will report it to the Head Quarters.

We consider that as soon as you have got all the necessary particulars of the foreign cars, you can
