Standardising spanner designs and requesting metal models for Mr. Royce's inspection.

With reference to the detail drawings you sent us of spanners together with cardboard models which latter proved very useful in dealing with the matter, we send you herewith drawing No.LeC.1645 giving some master proportions for all spanners of this type and shewing these proportions applied to the sizes required. We have handled the matter in this way so as to make the spanners uniform. We noticed there were variations in the models submitted. From ¼" up to ½" the spanner handles are of the panelled form, from 1 BA down to 5 BA the spanner handles are of the solid oval form. Mr. Royce wishes all the spanner jaws to be machined and also the profile of the spanner heads to be machined within 45° approximately of the centre line of the jaw on each side. The two largest spanners shewn on this drawing namely, ⅝" and ¾" are required for use at WW. and one of each should be made and sent to Mr. Royce. A set of actual models in metal should be prepared as soon as possible to LeC.1645 for Mr. Royce's inspection while the work of production is going forward. E.{Mr Elliott - Chief Engineer} | ||
