ORIGINAL TO HS.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} FROM E.{Mr Elliott - Chief Engineer} c. to CJ. BY.{R.W. Bailey - Chief Engineer} E4/M12.7.23. RE. OIL LEVEL INDICATOR. V3527 In reply to your memo. HS{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}2/LG7723., would you kindly note that Mr. Royce is not satisfied with the direct reading gauge as applied to chassis 6.EX. Firstly he thinks it most important not to interfere with the section of the crankcase both upper and lower halves subjected to the bending stress imposed by the moving parts. Secondly he thinks the gauge is not sufficiently visible. It is proposed to get out a design immediately on the lines of the EAC. which will accordingly be done.
