8.B.V. Bentley.

Thanking you for your reports up to 7.2.39. which we have noted. We have referred the loosening of the gearbox studs which hold the torque arm, to the design dept. who will modify the final scheme accordingly.

In reply to your telephone call, we are preparing a complete set of brake shoes lined with VG.90 as used in the servo. These will be despatched tomorrow morning. Please fit them front and rear, and return the eight shoes removed for our inspection, marking their position for our reference, i.e. top N.S.F. Bottom N.S.F. etc. etc. We are hoping that the VG.90 will be good for not squeaking and want a full report on their behaviour in due course.

Regarding your remarks re servo travel, when the rear brakes were 6 notches and the fronts 3 notches out of adjustment (and no slack in the servo rod system) how much front braking had you? If under such circumstances you could stop the car in three times the normal distance we should consider it reasonable. Was the servo also out of adjustment.

We are sending some brake drum screws as requested.

Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/IMW.{Ivan M. Waller - Head of Chateauroux}
