We tender our thanks for your letter of the 11th inst., Ref.BJ1/E11/6/26 in connection with the lubrication of Rolls Royce Engines and are pleased to note that we may submit for the consideration of your engineers particulars of the physical tests of Sternol WW. The grades which we have found most suitable and which are used by our Managing Director and our other Directors who are running Rolls-Royce Cars, are Sternol WW Medium for winter lubrication and Sternol WW Heavy for summer lubrication. These oils have tests as follows:- FOR WINTER LUBRICATION. STERNOL WW MEDIUM. Specific gravity .......... .910 Open Flashpoint .......... 415°F Redwood Viscosity @ 140°F . 210" " " @ 200°F . 69" FOR SUMMER LUBRICATION. STERNOL WW HEAVY Specific Gravity .......... .907 Open Flashpoint .......... 415°F Redwood Viscosity @ 140°F . 285" " " @ 200°F . 84" These oils are all British products, manufactured at our London works under our special voltolising process.
