X457 -2- 22-LW. These plugs also give better slow running and maintain so will bring some over.* (Handwritten annotations: X3461, X4050, X.437, X.2725, X2628) ( Copy of report from EP{G. Eric Platford - Chief Quality Engineer} dated 7.10.20. ) "As regards springing I anxiously await Derby policy regarding old springs or shock absorbers. I am now arranging to welcome any customer complaining and tackling his complaint. If cannot convince him O.K. by way car is run and driven, and attended to, will try shock absorbers (if springs) and damping delve (if wobbles). Wobbles are aggravated here by the amount of roads with rouch large sets. They want me at Springfield to go over the points with them, but was holding over until C.J. arrived and going into all facts here. CJ. now cables me - carry on without him and return as soon as possible. An running to Springfield tomorrow to get some idea of roads and behaviour of chassis. Anxiously await to hear from you re thin leaves or shock absorbers. Feel convinced some damping device necessary but am tackling the point that car O.K. as it is if driven with care - otherwise car is going to be knocked to pieces. Here is nothing better - American cars do not last long but they have the advantage of ready and quick service. I am playing on the exclusiveness point. Am preparing all my points for interview - CJ. present. (Summarise the points as follows) - (1) Springs. -too flexible and throw car about. Also chunks and rattles in the drive. My demonstration to farshow old, thin leaf springs same if greased to avoid rattle etc. must be loaded up to get straight drive. Tyres - now standard at 55 lbs, pressure but not so good as Dunlops for less chatter, etc. Contd. | ||
