[Handwritten: +3113] The Anglo American Oil Co. are now widely advertising and are distributing in all their pumps petrol which contains T.E.L. dope. We understand the proportion of T.E.L. is 5 c.c. to the gallon. Our experience on [Handwritten above: high comp:] aero engines is [Struck through: that good results are obtained] with petrol containing 10 c.c T.E.L. to the gallon. Similar fuel to what The Anglo American Co. are now distributing in England has been in general use on cars in America for 2 years. A great number of Phantom cars are running with this petrol. Springfield have carried out tests and they find as regards the engine it is entirely satisfactory. The Anglo American Co. are charging 2d. per gall. extra for this petrol. The experience in America is that apart from the dope, the petrol is a high quality. We see no reason why this fuel should not be used on R-R cars. Although a lot of advantages are claimed for it, the only one we can appreciate at present is that it will definitely reduce detonations. Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} | ||
