For the attention of Mr. Cooper.

Dear Sirs,

We thank you for your letter and drawings of the cast iron bodies H.P. pump. There is one point which still requires attention, namely the diameter of the phosphor bronze spindle which slides in the bush. The limits on this used to be 140 ± 2, but recently these were increase to 140 ± 5, as there was no particular need for the accuracy then.

With the adoption of a guide bush it will be necessary to tighten the limits on this, and also ensure there are no tool markes left which tend to cause wear on the bush and sticking.

Will you please let me have your opinon on this matter and a print showing the alterations.

These modifications will apply to the existing type H.P. pump when they are fitted with Tufnol guides.

Could you also please ask Mr. Harris to let our order office (Mr. Wallis) have a price for the existing H.P. pump fitted with Tufnol guide bush.

Yours faithfully,

FOR ROLLS-ROYCE LTD.
