COPY OF LETTER SENT TO: India Tyre & Rubber Co.Ltd. INCHINNAN. SCOTLAND.
Dear Sirs,
We are in receipt of your letter of the 10th instant in connection with a set of wheels which we recently built for you on 17 x 4 rims.
We have carefully noted your remarks, but regret to advise you that it is not possible to modify the wheels we supplied.
We have given your drawing our close attention, and have also marked out a rim to it. We are of the opinion, however, that a really satisfactory wheel could not be built to this lay-out, as the nipples would lie very close to each other, and it would be practically impossible to get the spokes under full tension.
We shall, however, be pleased to build you up one wheel if you will be kind enough to forward a hub to us, or if you wish, we could use a hub from our own stock.
We would suggest, however, that the most satisfactory method of overcoming the difficulty would be to reduce the diameter of the balance weights, and fit a type similar to that fitted to the Rolls Royce wheel. If it is possible to do this we could no doubt use the wheels we have already built, or we could build up a further set with 3" instead of 3.400 space for balance weight fittings.
We trust you will give our suggestion your consideration, and that you will favour us with your instructions, which you
