1015 Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/Gry.{Shadwell Grylls}12/MH.{M. Huckerby} 28th. July, 1939. F.O.Hickling, Esq., Messrs. Ransome & Marles Bearing Co. Ltd., NEWARK-ON-TRENT. axle DEAR HICKLING, I do not know how full your Test Department is, but wonder if you could carry out for us some endurance testing. We are interested in the rate of loss of preload of the Bentley pinion bearing with different lubricants. The lubricants in question are Wakefield's Hi-press, Wakefield's TEX and your normal "Rust-Veto". If you can carry out these tests for us we suggest you start with bearings having .003 preload and run for long enough to get measurements of the rate of loss. We think the cages ought to be the latest type with elongated holes. We can send you a gallon of TEX when you want it and we suggest that all the tests are carried out at 110 Centigrade. We are hoping to see you again in Derby soon, but avoid next week or from August 13th. to 20th. Yours sincerely, | ||
