the front of the car being steadier.

As stated in my report, the extra load definitely brought up radiator jellying and joggles of more intensity, but the period of the joggles was of less duration, which sharpened the peak. We also reported to you that increasing the high pressure damper load had the same effect. The steering is more effective because the front of the car is kept steadier, but at the same time the radiator movement becomes apparent. We have since increased the L.P. load of the dampers up to approx. 90 lbs., and by doing this, has lessened the movement of the radiator and made the front of the car still steadier. The effect on the steering is that joggles have been increased in the length of the period, their intensity is no more than previously. The radiator movement is not so pronounced with the more even damping, than what it was with the uneven damping. I think the worst period of the joggles is approx. 60 M.P.H. It is more or less the wobble period, but there is no sign that it would develop into a wobble. The lead weights on the front made the steering very heavy at low speeds? This steering is on the heavy side at low speeds and for shunting more so than other previous cars. At times the sticking on the left lock is very bad, although we have not reported this in our Daily Report. The reason I suppose is that the steering nut on this portion of the worm has not been bedded in to the same extent as the other portion.

Re oil consumption. We are concerned at the oil consumption, we are now practically getting only 500 M.P.G., in fact it is getting less. No. 5 cylinder apparently is using a lot of oil, although we are not being troubled with any fouled plugs, and it is not a question of the car overoiling when running slow.
