To WOR.{Arthur Wormald - General Works Manager} from E.{Mr Elliott - Chief Engineer} c. Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} Ox. By.{R.W. Bailey - Chief Engineer} Sft.{Mr Swift} NHC. EP.{G. Eric Platford - Chief Quality Engineer} Phantom 2 Bonnet Stops. We have an improved scheme of bonnet stops fitted to chassis 27-EX. These are made in steel of a lighter gauge than the original set which were made in aluminium, and they are fitted with a special stiffening rib to take the offset load brought about by the necessity for keeping the bolt heads on the outside of the bonnet panels opposite each other. I am asking the Experimental Department for a preliminary report on this scheme but I would like your permission to have it fitted right away to one or two trials cars so that they can be seen and used at first hand by Sales Department, and also the effects of any tendency to crack the paint in the region of the bolt heads can be observed. In the meantime I am passing a blueprint of this scheme to Sft.{Mr Swift} with a view to obtaining the extra cost involved in fitting this device to the Phantom.
