Observation noting that the Remy distributor's offset contact points prevent pitting and blackening from centrifugally thrown oil, unlike the standard distributor.

Any oil drawn up from the distributor bearing on to the cam face and thrown off centrifugally clears the points and so prevents any pitting or blackening to occur.
