R.{Sir Henry Royce} From DA.{Bernard Day - Chassis Design} SECRET. X5470 DA{Bernard Day - Chassis Design}1/M10.3.31. C. to SG.{Arthur F. Sidgreaves - MD} WOR.{Arthur Wormald - General Works Manager} C. to HS.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} BY.{R.W. Bailey - Chief Engineer} HY.{Tom Haldenby - Plant Engineer} JAPAN 3. PEDALS. Herewith we send prints of N. schs. 3245 & 3252., arrangements respectively of the clutch and brake pedals on J.3. The pedals are of the adjustable type recently tried on P.2. and 25 HP. It is suggested that brazing could be eliminated at a good many points where it is now used, and pressing substituted for it. As an alternative to simply pressing the pedal plates on to their stems, and pinning, it is suggested that pressing on to a knurled stem might be used. The construction of the pedal shaft follows the latest P.2. The brake pull off spring has been modified to be similar to P.2. as recently requested by Derby for economy. Prints attached to By's copy.
