AIR MINISTRY "F" TYPE.

We have now received from the Air Ministry final approval of the above engine with its modified reduction gear incorporating a floating layshaft.

This approval is based on the satisfactory conclusion of the 100 hours type test, but it is conditional upon the successful conclusion of the 50 hours flight test which we are now carrying out at Hucknall on our own machine.

The Air Ministry have asked us to supply them with particulars of any modifications which we propose to introduce into the production engines, so that they may consider whether it is necessary for a further type test to be carried out.

Our proposals will be forwarded to them during the course of the next few days.

(Signed) A.{Mr Adams} F.{Mr Friese} SIDGREAVES
