R.W. Harvey Bailey Esq.,
Messrs. Rolls-Royce Ltd.,
DERBY.

Dear Mr. Bailey, Re. 8.B.5.

When in Derby last week, Mr. Dodd mentioned to me that even with the metal stoneshield over the back wing he found it necessary to fit a flap at the rear end of the front wing. We should like to know if he has experimented with the front flap only, and what was the result.

This extra flap is going to effect us on production because Sales have asked me to quote for a rear shield only, and from past experience I know that they are rather against the flap hanging from the front wing.

It would be advantageous to us if we could have Mr. Dodd's records of what happened on test with either one of these two schemes.

Thanking you,

Yours sincerely,

DIRECTOR.
