With reference to the front axle, we cannot wait to find out whether we want vertical pivots or not, since vertical pivots and wire wheels are prohibited in any case, owing to the enormous size of shell required for the wire wheel, and the amount that the hub sticks out beyond the brake.

We must therefore decide on an axle suitable for the standard Rudge-Whitworth or Dunlop wheel.

We presume also that a special forging will be required with vertical pivots for the disc wheels, and we think that Sales will always demand that we are able to supply two classes of wheel. This however, is not a manufacturing advantage, and you will remember that the Siddeley-Armstrong have only disc wheels to offer, which permit of the vertical pivots and straight forward manufacturing conditions.

We must have centre point steering with pivots as vertical as possible.
