1263 Experimental Dept. Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/JBD.{John B. Dixon - Fuel Systems}3/JH. 23rd November, 1936. The S.U. Company Ltd., East Works, Bordesley Green Road, Adderley Park. BIRMINGHAM.8. For the attention of Mr. Leslie. Kent. Dear Sirs, With regard to the silenced petrol pumps which we have ordered and also the one which we returned for examination. It is essential that we obtain these pumps without delay for test with a view of Standardisation. Accordingly we suggest you supply them with a recessed armature as before and .030" of velumoid washer with the best possible setting to obtain a reasonably low minimum working voltage. It would then be possible to modify existing pumps if and when it was required. From the tests we have already made we know the velumoid will stand the impact over 63 hrs. continuous working, without becoming noisy, and causing additional trouble, whereas in the chassis it would only be under impact for a very small percentage of the working time. The minimum working voltage should be 6 volts. We also require information as to what setting you are going to use on these pumps. With regard to the high lift pumps, we suggest you supply as soon as possible, one of these with the chromium plated distance pieces, preferably in a hard brass or bronze | ||
