Superflexit Petrol Piping.
Standardisation Sheet X.251 and 551.

With reference to the above proposed modification, I have not agreed to sign the standardisation sheets because the new piping does not seem sufficiently good.

The cut up sample shows that petrol has been leaking through the cellophane core and soaking into the rubber inter core and cotton winding on the sample tested. The rubber has become swollen in consequence and deteriorated, and has caused the outer casing to swell also.

I think it is doubtful whether a good joint can be made with Superflexit on the adaptors at each end.

It appears difficult to avoid a leakage where the internal wire coil wraps round the adaptors.
