X.3916. U.S.A. BOSCH ZR.6 ED.{J. L. Edwards}19 MAGNETO
X.4181c. WATFORD EO6c MAGNETO
X.4279. WATFORD ELO.6 MAGNETO.

Comparative tests of the above three magnetos have now been completed in between other more important Goshawk work and we think it desirable to record these results in the form of a report because -

(1) The first named magneto is at present standard on the U.S.A. R.R. Cars.
(2) The second is at present standard on British R.R.Cars.
(3) The third is a larger and heavier one which has been evolved between ourselves and the Watford Company, and the comparative tests of this and the EO6 magneto should be interesting.

The EO6c magneto apparently, however, is giving quite satisfactory results. Although we have recorded results of tests of previous EO6 magnetos, (e.g. EO6a and EO6b) the latest form of EO6, which we call c, differs from those previously reported in having a larger diameter (referring to the insulating flanges) high tension slip ring, modified armature winding for higher voltage, and longer high tension safety gap, viz. 8 1/2 mm.

It appears, however, that the particular magneto tested, No. 50410, although it was returned to the makers to be modified from the EO6b to the EO6c type, they have overlooked the increase in the H.T. safety gap which only measures 7.6 mm.
