R.R. 235 A (170 H) (S.D. 442. 9-5-17) G.{Mr Griffiths - Chief Accountant / Mr Gnapp} 1965. COPY. X.2894 THE L.P.S. ELECTRICAL CO., 14 Howick Place., Westminster., LONDON.S.W.1. Your Ref: EFC1/AT19917. Our. Ref. L. 3rd December.1917. Messrs. Rolls Royce Ltd., Nightingale Road., DERBY. Dear Sirs., RE TUNGSTEN CONTACTS. We are sending you to-day two Contact Breakers for Watford Magnetos, which we have riveted with Tungsten Contacts. We shall be very interested to have particulars of result of test, to which you will undoubtedly put these Contacts. We have compounded several alloys of Tungsten, which are now in an experimental stage, and Contacts sent you represent one of these alloys, which has already under certain conditions given good results. We are therefore anxious to know how they will behave under special conditions prevailing in your Magneto. We would like to mention that the bearings in the Rocker Arms are very loose, and the Contact, therefore do not come together properly. This if not attended to will seriously affect the life of the Contacts, and we suggest therefore that this be rectified before testing. Waiting with interest to hear further from you. sgd.
