Re Phantom II and 20/25HP Chassis -
Hobson K.S.Telegauge.

We return herewith original letters TPS/AML of the 11th. and TPS/AML of the 12th from Messrs H.M.Hobson Ltd. their remarks have been noted.

We have made a careful test of the two petrol gauges sent by them and we agree that tested under exactly the same conditions, the variation in reading is only the thickness of one of the dual lines on the scale.

At the same time, we had no complaint against the 20/25HP gauge, our complaint being against the 40/50HP, the inaccuracy showing up more on this due to the marking being finer (the scales for both gauges being the same length, and one reading 14 gallons against 20 gallons)

With regard to the tank unit fitted with the larger internal diameter pump tube - we have fitted this unit into a tank and will report further on its behaviour after it has been in use for some time.

Mr Searight suggests that he might find the cause of the trouble with this pipe if he could get hold of a faulty one. We have already returned four tank units to them owing to this fault, and they are referred to in our replacement order numbers R9630 dated September 5th. R9615 dated September 3rd. R9601 dated August 28th. and R9314 dated June 12th - this will no doubt enable him to trace them.

We have to day come across another tank unit which has the pump air line stopped up and the obstruction cannot be moved. This is being returned to Hobsons and marked specially "For the attention of Mr T.P. Searight" with a remark to the effect that it has this trouble as referred to on Page 4 of his letter TPS/AML of the 11th inst.

P.S. The two petrol gauges referred to in paragraph two are returned herewith.
