COPY. ----- NORTH & SONS, LIMITED. WHIPPENDALL ROAD, WATFORD. Your Ref. Wd{Mr Wood/Mr Whitehead}4/NJ28425. Our ref. WJN/HC.14. 13th May, 1925. Messrs. Rolls-Royce Ltd. DERBY. Dear Sirs, In reply to your letter of the 28th ult. re the R.O.l. magneto No. 75324 returned to you from your Cricklewood depot, we beg to say that we have now tested and examined this machine and find that it was sparking O.K. at high speeds and quite evenly at 95 R.P.M, at low speeds. All the parts were examined and we found that the armature was of the pattern wherein the safety gap lead came out of the armature winding itself. This has now been brought up to date by fitting the new pattern safety gap stud in the driving end plate in order that the gap is formed between the stud and the brass ring of the slip ring. The Magneto is now undergoing its final tests and will be despatched to you per passenger train at the earliest possible moment. Yours faithfully, P.P. North & Sons Ltd. W.J. North. | ||
