20 HP. BRAKES.
---------

I am not in agreement that the modification to the arm will affect the question of the thumps at all. The fact that there is a long flexible side to the boss and a short rather stiff one, does not in my opinion necessarily mean that you get servo action. In any case the part is not considered as a moving member. It was intended to be a self adjusting anchorage, which would leave the Tee lever in the best position to re-apply the brakes in any previous operation.

wear
We do not think that lubrication of the boss is needful as the piece is/not moving back and fore, but merely gradually creeping as brakes and adjustments work from one position to another, all that is required being that the friction is sufficient to hold the lever in the position it assumes when the brakes are applied.

We are in agreement that a parallel control on the front axle would be an improvement, although it is not as necessary as it was in the case of the 40/50 HP. owing to the pivot having approximately three times the forward inclination than obtains on the Phantom.
