1024 J1209. To EJJ. from Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/AFM.{Anthony F. Martindale} Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/AFM.{Anthony F. Martindale}2/MH.{M. Huckerby}28.6.39. SHOCK DAMPER INDICATOR - BUMP HOUSE. We have been using this rig which works very satisfactorily at speeds of 70 ~/min. We now want to add to it to make it suitable for operation at 600 ~/min. The changes and additions necessary will be as follows:- (1) Another torsion bar one third the effective length of the present one. Present fixings will be moved to suit new length. (2) A new light pointer 9" long to write on the present table, fitted with a German silver spike to act as pencil. (3) A supply of steam engine indicator paper. (4) A bracket to hold the above pointer, fixed to the present upright. (5) A cross link between the old pointer and the new short one: the total travel of the new pointer to be the same as at present. These modifications are very simple to carry out, we would like them soon because we want to make recommendation to RHC{R. H. Coverley - Production Engineer}'s Dept. about a production indicator. We also want a revolution counter reading from 1 to 1,000,000 fitted to the rig. This can be driven from the arm that works the slide because, for endurance running, the indicator will be inoperative. Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/AFM.{Anthony F. Martindale} | ||
