To Wor.{Arthur Wormald - General Works Manager} from Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer} x261 Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}2/KW.21.10.35. Chassis B-121-AE. Capt. W. Barnato. Attached is a copy of a report on the work we have carried out on Capt. Barnato's car. It will be seen that the oil consumption could be almost halved by reducing the oil pressure. We should like to complete our tests and then tackle Mr. Geoffrey Smith's car on the same lines. It is somewhat extravagant to fit new pistons and block, and when we tackle the next car we expect to be able to get good oil consumption without doing this. Hall's metal bearings are so far showing up better as main bearings than as connecting rod bearings. We may therefore find it necessary to use lead bronze big ends when we introduce the big bore, and for this reason want to continue getting experience on them.
