Rolls Royce Ltd., Nightingale Road, DERBY. For the attention of Mr. E.W. Hives. Dear Sirs, It would be a source of extreme gratification to me to know whether you have yet been able to make any tests of the Suspensions sent you on the 28th July and what is your opinion of them so far. Even if you were considering the question of standardising I, obviously, am aware that you would not settle the matter until you had made exhaustive tests. I do not think, however, you could test Houdailles to destruction as you cannot wear them out and I hope when you have done several thousands of miles with them on one of your cars you will note that the efficiency has not varied in the very slightest, that the amount of fresh castor oil put in is negligible and in fact if you take them to pieces that there is no wear whatsoever. If you standardise Houdailles you will be able to do so with the full knowledge that they will last as long as the car and that no attention (other than a little castor oil occasionally) or repairs is required. It is simply a question of fitting the right length lever and if you do standardise and would require any length arm that is not standardised by us, we could, of course, have them specially made just as we could also have them specially cranked for you. | ||
