| To RHC.{R. H. Coverley - Production Engineer} X302 Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Gry.{Shadwell Grylls}5/KW.8.1.36. Ph.III Rear Axle. Will you please assemble one of the new rear axles so that - (1) The pinion crown wheel backlash at the pitchline is less than .003". (2) The total pinion flange backlash to be less than 1°, the half shafts being prevented from rotation by the brakes. (3) The differential pinion bronze washers replaced by hard steel ones fixed to the casing so that rubbing takes place only between the washers and pinions. When this axle is ready we will fit it complete to 31-EX to test whether we can prevent a rapid increase in the original backlash. Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Gry.{Shadwell Grylls} | ||
