To EH. from E. {Mr Elliott - Chief Engineer} c. to CJ. c. to BN. {W.O. Bentley / Mr Barrington} c. to EFC. {E. Fowler Clarke - Electrical Engineer} RE BACK AXLE - CHASSIS 7 CA. While inspecting chassis 7 CA it was noticed that the torque tube joints, namely, the intermediate one half way along the torque tube and the rear one joining to the axle box were leaking oil very slowly, and shewing an oily mess all round the lower half of each flange. So far as it could be ascertained the bolts were quite tight. It is thought worth while to raise the query with you as to whether this is usually found on our axles.
