X4308. EFC4/AD. 6th November, 1929. Mr. G.R.N. Minchin, Messrs. Peto & Radford, 50, Grosvenor Gardens, London, S.W.1. Dear Mr. Minchin, Speedometer. The reason the instrument was wrong when it arrived at your end was that the package had been violently dealt with in transit. We found the movement control hair spring badly crossed by excessive vibration. By opening the instrument again we can, and have released the tangle. Our subsequent retest shows the instrument to be quite O.K. as before, reading 54.8 m.p.h. at 18°C. at 600 r.p.m. I am arranging for it to be again returned to you with a suitable label, and trust it will now reach you in O.K. condition. We have known cases of this kind before. Yours faithfully, FOR ROLLS-ROYCE LIMITED. | ||
