REAR SPRINGS-BENTLEY III
We send herewith LeC:-5782 and LeC:-5783, showing the front and rear anchorages of the rear road springs respectively.
With respect to the front anchorage-LeC.5782, we have provided for a threaded shackle pin which is withdrawn inwards, due to the close proximity of the body runner and the running board.
Likewise on LeC-5783, we show threaded spring and shackle pins, but both in the case of the front and rear anchorages the forgings are such that designs can be produced for plain pins.
Special forgings are required however, to produce a scheme for Silent Block or Cadillac rubber bearings.
We have shown the tubular rear crossmember assembled by welding, but we are awaiting a decision from the Exptl: Department as to the best method of construction resulting from tests we have instructed for the rear crossmember of Wraith III
