R.R. 235B (100 T) (S.H. 798 10-12-20) C.2948 From Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} ORIGINAL c. to CJ. c. to E.{Mr Elliott - Chief Engineer} c. to EY. c. to Da.{Bernard Day - Chassis Design} c. to EF. H.G.6/L.G.8.21. X1413 X3431 STEERING COLUMN SWITCH. We think the danger of fire pointed out by Mr. Olley in his OY2/G28.6.21. is a real danger. We have never known a fire take place due to the operation of the switch, but we have had instances of fire when the wire has been taken off the switch or broken and dropped on to the crankcase. The wire drops on a portion of the crankcase which catches any petrol which drops from the carburetter. We agree that the safest place for the switch is at the top of the steering column.
