TO HS.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} FROM DA.{Bernard Day - Chassis Design} ORIGINAL DA{Bernard Day - Chassis Design}3/M15.6.27. X8420 X8520 FRONT AXLE CONTROL. With reference to HS{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/RM{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}1/LG31527., we have had an opportunity of discussing this question with R.{Sir Henry Royce} again, and he thinks that the control should go through in its present form, modifications only being made if practical difficulties are found. We therefore suggest that it would be wise to proceed with the tests as fast as possible. One point is the proximity of the exhaust pipe to the shock damper. Tests to prove whether this is a real objection would be very useful. On the new engine the exhaust system will probably be different and this trouble will be automatically overcome.
