Copy. S/W. To Wor.{Arthur Wormald - General Works Manager} from C. C.12/D30.8.29. Re Radiators. Your Wor{Arthur Wormald - General Works Manager}6/H28.8.29, enclosing copy of BX1/G28.8.29. Sg.{Arthur F. Sidgreaves - MD} and I have discussed this matter and we do not like at all the idea of having to advise our customers that they must use distilled water or that radiators have got to be washed out at regular intervals. For one thing, in many places it would be impossible to get distilled or rain water, besides which, wherever it may be, it is a very big inconvenience that drivers are not likely to welcome, and accordingly is a telling point against the car since it is not expected in cheap cars. We feel that some further action than this will have to be taken, and I propose coming up to Derby early next week and discussing the matter with you, as no doubt these particular radiators are doing us a lot of damage, more particularly in Continental resorts. You will be recieving a report from Hm.{Capt. W. Hallam - Head Repairs} on the return of his man from St.Moritz, where I understand there are a number of cars suffering from over-heating. I understood you were making some alterations in the top tubes of the matrix. Perhaps you would like to consider whether it would not be better for us to fit these new tubes every time we get a complaint that is due to silting up of the radiator. C. | ||
